Could We Colonize Europa?
Could We Colonize Europa? A dot of light. This is what Europa has been for almost four centuries: a tiny source of light, as weak as a sixth magnitude star. Nothing but the second moon in order of distance from Jupiter, and the smallest of the four discovered by Galileo in January 1610. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the end of the 19th century it was possible to estimate for Europa a diameter of about 3100 km, comparable to that of our Moon. It was therefore legitimate to think that it was a very similar body, arid and very craterized. It was only in the '60s, thanks to the first spectroscopic studies, that it was suspected that its surface was instead covered with ice. Then the final word went to interplanetary probes and the first missions to the outer planets of the Solar System. It was Voyager 1, in March 1979, to photograph for the first time closely the Galilean satellites, in particular Io, Ganymede and Callisto; while Europa (which was more out of sight during the overflight of the probe) had to wait for the arrival of Voyager 2 in July 1979. And the first high-resolution images of Europa showed ice plains furrowed by thousands of dark streaks that overlapped like a giant reddish net spread over the entire surface. But from the very beginning something even more extraordinary was noticed, namely the almost complete absence of impact craters. Some were detected, but not in the number that one would expect from a planet without or almost without atmosphere. In their place, instead, only those long scars, which sometimes stopped abruptly, indicating that at that point the surface was somehow torn, making the darker material rise from the inside. At this point, the crucial questions had become (at least) three: 1- why were so few impact craters visible?, 2- why did the surface crack like that?, 3- what was coming out from inside the planet? Needless to say, all three issues should have been resolved together. Since it is completely unreasonable to believe that Europa has few impact craters only by chance, there was only one other hypothesis that could be put forward to explain the phenomenon. That is that the planetary surface had been "remodeled" over time by particular geological events. In other words, the satellite had to be still geologically active, which meant that there must have been a permanent heat source inside Europa. The first clues in favor of this hypothesis came from considering the so-called "Laplace resonance", a particular phenomenon of gravitational interaction between Jupiter, Io, Europa and Ganymede. In practice, the periods of revolution of these satellites are integer multiples. This means that every time Ganymede makes an orbit around Jupiter (7.2 Earth days), Europa makes two (3.6 Earth days) and Io four (1.8 Earth days). This particular way of orbiting around Jupiter causes gravitational perturbations that, by periodically "stretching" the satellite in all directions, result in tidal effects that produce heat and mechanical effects of high proportions. This, for example, is the same cause of the very intense volcanic activity of Io, but it has been calculated that even the interior of Europa could be so hot that the ice melts below the surface already over 10 km deep. And so it was that, although it may have seemed like a crazy idea, the astronomers began to seriously think that under the frozen crust of Europa could really hide a large liquid ocean... This was confirmed by the Galileo probe, which had flown over Europa a dozen times since December 1995, taking thousands of extraordinary photos, and had mainly measured in the layers immediately below the ice blanket the gravimetric values compatible with a density similar to that of water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If You happen to see any content that is yours, and we didn't give credit in the right manner please let us know at Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com and we will correct it immediately" "Some of our visual content is under an Attribution-ShareAlike license. Tau Ceti And Its Planets!
Tau Ceti is a relatively nearby star and one of the closest G-type stars to our solar system. Located 12 light years away in the constellation Cetus, Tau Ceti is a single star that has a similar spectrum to our Sun’s and approximately 81% of the solar mass. Tau Ceti is a stable star whose brightness barely changes and has a hydrogen-helium composition. Moreover, Tau Ceti hosts four confirmed exoplanets: Tau Ceti e, Tau Ceti f, Tau Ceti g and Tau Ceti h. Curious to learn more about Tau Ceti and its planetary system? Keep Watching!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tau Ceti is a main sequence star, which means that it’s well into the stage of hydrogen-helium thermonuclear fusion in its core. It’s a yellow-orange G-type dwarf star that’s visible from Earth due to its nearby location. It’s crucial to compare Tau Ceti’s features to the Sun’s features since it may have a habitable planet. It has a mass that’s approximately 81 to 91 percent of the solar mass and a radius that’s equal to 75 to 77 percent of the solar radius. However, Tau Ceti has only 59 percent of the solar luminosity, it’s 5.8 billion years old, which means that it’s older than our Sun. In addition to that, Tau Ceti is a metal-deficient star, such that it’s not as enriched as the Sun in elements that are heavier than hydrogen and helium. In particular, it has approximately 22 to 89 percent of the iron solar abundance. Moreover, Tau Ceti has an axial period that is equal to 34 days which means that it rotates more slowly than our Sun. Tau Ceti has a space velocity equal to 37.2 kilometers per second relative to the Sun. This space velocity is used to estimate the orbital path of Tau Ceti in the Milky Way galaxy. Moreover, it is moving with a radial velocity of 17 kilometers per second toward the Sun, which means that it will make its closest approach to the Sun in about 43,000 years and it will be 10.6 light years away from us during that event. Spectroscopic measurements had been used to determine most of the physical properties and features of Tau Ceti such as radius, mass, luminosity and its approximated age. The chemical composition of Tau Ceti reveals so much about its evolutionary status, it has a lower metal abundance than the Sun which indicates that it’s older. In order to understand this, it’s worth noting that younger stars tend to have larger portions of metals in their atmospheres than older stars, because older stars were formed at very early stages of galactic dynamics before any supernova had occurred. Supernovae are the main source of heavy metals which are elements heavier than hydrogen. Therefore, oldar stars such as Tau Ceti are less abundant in metals than younger stars such as our Sun. There's as much interstellar dust surrounding Tau Ceti more than ten times as is present in the solar system. In particular, a large and relatively dense, cold dust disk had been detected around Tau Ceti by using the Submillimetre Common-User Bolometer Array (SCUBA) of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope at the Joint Astronomy Center on the Big Island of Hawaii. Due to the fact that Tau Ceti is a relatively old star, astronomers believe that this ring of dusty debris is most likely to be produced by collisions between larger comets and asteroids that break them down into smaller pieces. However, that dust disk is similar in size and shape to the disk of comets and asteroids that orbits our Sun; except for the fact that Tau Ceti disk has more mass of cometary and asteroidal material than that currently observed in the solar system. This fact is completely unknown to scientists and astronomers, simply why would Tau Ceti have a more dense cometary disk than the Sun although its mass is relatively less than the solar mass? Such that its gravitational field is expected to attract less cometary and asteroidal material than the Sun, however, it’s neither true nor completely understood till now!! Galaxy Evolution, Cosmology and Dark Energy!
An outline of modern cosmology: from Einstein's general relativity to dark energy. We all believe that space like we know it today, was born by the Big Bang: the main cosmological theory, the most accepted by the scientific community nowadays. Big Bang theory describes the evolution of space-time and the universe as well. However, there's nothing we can argue about the event itself: we imagine it as an explosi* to trigger imagination and grasp the concept, but the "Big Bang" itself is defined by physics as a "singularity". A singularity is a zone of space-time where physics is not the same anymore: like a black hole. It's an inscrutable, unsearchable area, where physics might be different: we cannot say anything about it. The Big Bang wasn't a huge explo*ion of matter that moved outside to fill an empty universe: Big Bang is the evolution of spacetime, that has been expanding everywhere, from everywhere. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's retrace the path that led us understand the behaviour at large scale of the universe. Before we start, we have to make a leap backward to clarify some concepts that we are going to use it during our travel. Have you ever wondered how astronomers can investigate celestial objects located billion light-years from Earth? We certainly cannot go up there. We can only analyze the electromagnetic radiation emitted. And this we do with radiotelescopes and other detectors. In physics e.m. radiation analysis is called spectroscopy. By means of spectroscopy, we can deduce chemical composition, temperature, density, mass, luminosity, and even distance of celestial objects. In particular, during the last century, scientists have learned to understand and to take advantage of a very useful phenomenon that frequently occurs in spectroscopy: the redshift effect. 1 I know what you are wondering now: what the heck is this redshift? It's easy to say: do you know Doppler effect? The redshift is the same for e.m. waves. Let me immediately be clear. For sure, you certainly already happened to hear the sound of an ambulance. While the ambulance is approaching to you, you perceive a higher and higher tone of the siren, as if the wavelength of its sound decreases. The opposite happens when the ambulance is receding: the tone becomes lower and lower as if the wavelength increases. For e.m. waves occurs the same. In fact, the redshift effect is nothing but the doppler effect of e.m. waves. Therefore, when an emitting object is moving proceeding to Earth, its radiation appears more and more shifted to lower wavelengths. Likewise, when an object is moving away from us, we get its radiation more and more shifted to higher wavelengths. Terms redshift and blueshift relate to human perception of longer and shorter wavelengths as red and blue located on the edges of the visible spectrum with longest and shortest wavelengths. So, when redshift occurs, we can deduce that the emitting object is moving away further and further. So, know we have all concepts and we're ready to start our trip and travel along the story of our comprehension of the universe until nowadays. Up to 1915, universe had been regarded as a steady system, as all the observations suggested. However, when Einstein published general relativity, the equations of the theory, the famous Einstein's field equations, admitted no static solutions: in other words, led to a dynamic and unstable universe, not static at all. Therefore Einstein, added a new term to correct the equations, corresponding to a repulsive force in order to counterbalance the attractive gravity of matter, that would lead to collapse the universe on itself. Einstein called this term: cosmological constant clarifying that, unlike gravity, it was independent of matter density. 2 Still before, in 1912, evidence of a dynamic universe was found: The American astronomer Vesto Slipher, in fact, had discovered the redshift of galaxies: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If You happen to see any content that is yours, and we didn't give credit in the right manner please let us know at Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com and we will correct it immediately" "Some of our visual content is under an Attribution-ShareAlike license. How Do We Search For Exoplanets?
How do we search for exoplanets? With the global warming and sea pollution constantly growing trends, the future of Earth might be at serious risk. In addiction, the overpopulation of some regions might cause a global food crisis in nearly 30 years. These are just a few reasons why some brilliant minds such as Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have started to plan a colonization of other planets like Mars, launching several rockets of their futuristic companies Spacex and Blue origin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What are exoplanets? How can we reveal their presence? Is it possible to find a place similar to our beautiful Earth? These and other great questions will be discussed in this video. Stick with me and I’ll tell you everything in a moment. It’s surely interesting to wonder about a possible future destination for everyone, but in order to understand how this can be done we need to take a step back and try to look at our planet: Earth. We all agree, except for some sceptics, that it has a spheric shape and that it has two main rotating motions: one around the sun, which causes the existence of four different seasons, and another around his axis, which is the source of day and night. But why we use to call Earth as a planet? What is a planet? The first revolution around the sun takes more time than the rotation around the axis, but this is not something that Earth shares with other “colleagues” of the solar system: for example, on Venus a year lasts less than a day. So what do all planets have in common? They all complete a close motion around the Sun and they have a stable shape typical of a certain mathematical equilibrium called hydrostatic equilibrium. Practically speaking, this is the reason why all planets are spherical. Addictionally, to gain the definition of planet a body must have a clean orbit without rocks or other astronomical detritus. As a matter of fact, in 2006 Pluto was declassified to the rank of dwarf planet because Eris was discovered, a big satellite that had nearly 27% of Pluto’s mass. Finally, a planet must have less than thirteen times the mass of Jupiter, the biggest one in the solar system. In parallel, an exoplanet is an astronomical object orbiting around a star different from the sun, but with the same features we already listed. Is it easy to detect the presence of an exoplanet? Definitely not. They’re not simple to find and only a bit more than four thousand have been discovered after 1992, when the first two planets were seen orbiting around a pulsar. Even if this number seems really big, it’s totally incomparable with the amount of stars discovered, which is almost 500000 only in the milky way. Stars are way easier to be discovered and catalogued as they shine on their own. On the contrary, planets happen just to radiate some tenuous infrared rays, that are surely not capable of reaching our detectors on earth. As a matter of fact, just less than 30 exoplanets have been detected by this technique called “direct imaging”. Given the fact that it’s not possible to measure their emission, how can we “see” a planet? Through indirect methods. Physicists love to study little changes in the radiation of the major star that are capable of revealing the presence of one or more planets. Let’s investigate the main techniques that are commonly used in astronomy for searching exoplanets. The first one deals with radial velocity. A planet has certainly a consistent amount of mass that weakly attracts the star, which has some slight displacements due to its presence. More precisely, both the star and the exoplanet are orbiting around the center of mass, a virtual point on the line that connects the two bodies, which is located near the heaviest one. This movements of the star can be well detected through a very common technique: redshift. Have you ever heard anything about this? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If You happen to see any content that is yours, and we didn't give credit in the right manner please let us know at Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com and we will correct it immediately" "Some of our visual content is under an Attribution-ShareAlike license. How Does A Meteorite Impact Event Occurs?
How A Meteorite Impact Event Occurs? One of the major wonders of space is meteor showers, which are beautiful to watch. But today we will not talk about their beauty. We will talk about how these can be catastrophic if they hit Earth in the future. Meteors have always been a cause of fear for humans. They have been responsible for many extinction events and other destruction on Earth before. In April 2018, the B612 Foundation reported, “It’s 100 percent certain we’ll be hit [by a devastating asteroid], but we’re not 100 percent certain when.” Throughout recorded history, hundreds of Earth impacts (and exploding bolides) have been reported, with some occurrences causing deat*s, injuries, property damage, or other significant localised consequences. Impact craters are found on every continent on Earth, but they are most common in parts of Australia, Europe and North America. This is not because the surface of these areas has changed so little that craters have been preserved. So in this video we will understand what are these impact events? Why are they caused? Have they happened before on Earth and caused damage? How do we prepare to deal with them? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But before this, lets take a step back and discuss what are Meteorite? A Meteorite is a piece of rock from outer space that strikes the surface of the Earth. A Meteoroid is a meteorite before it hits the surface of the Earth. Meteors are glowing fragments of rock matter from outside the Earth’s atmosphere that burn and glow upon entering the Earth’s atmosphere.  They are more commonly known as shooting stars. Some meteors, particularly larger ones, may survive passage through the atmosphere to become meteorites, but most are small objects that burn up completely in the atmosphere.  They are not, in reality, shooting stars. Fireballs  are dazzling meteors. They can be classified in mainly three types- Stony meteorites, Iron meteorites and Stony-Iron meteorites. So where do they come from? Well, most of the meteorites are fragments of larger bodies called part bodies. They can be either minor planets or asteroids from the solar system. These parent bodies can originate from many sources. Asteroids are the major source of these fragments or meteorites and mainly originate from deep space. The major sources are - The Asteroid belt and The Oort cloud. The asteroid belt is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.  It comprises a swarm of about 100,000 objects called asteroids.  Asteroids are small rocky bodies with irregular shapes that have a cratered surface.  About 3,500 or more of these asteroids have been officially classified, and their orbital paths are known. The Oort Cloud is a theoretical cloud of predominantly icy planetesimals proposed to surround the Sun at distances ranging from 2,000 to 200,000 AU. We have already made a video on The Oort Cloud before, so you can go watch it after this video and know more about it. These asteroids are sometime thrown towards the Earth by many factors and some of them have orbits that get them close to the Earth. Some even cross the orbital path of the Earth and are known as Apollo objects. All the objects that pass close to Earth are refereed to as Near-Earth Objects.  About 150 NEOs with diameters between 1 and 8 km are known, but this is only a fraction of the total number.  Many NEOs will eventually collide with the Earth.  These objects have unstable orbits because they are under the gravitational influence of both the Earth and Mars.  So, now let’s talk about what is an Impact event?  When a large object from the space hits the Earth’s surface it deforms the site and forms an impact. When a meteorite collides with the Earth, it can form an impact carter- a bowl-shaped hollow in the Earth’s surface. Space rocks have produced craters in the way throughout Earth’s life, especially when the planet was young around 4 Billion years ago. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If You happen to see any content that is yours, and we didn't give credit in the right manner please let us know at: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com and we will correct it immediately" "Some of our visual content is under an Attribution-ShareAlike license. Cheese! The First-Ever Image Of M87 Black Hole (And Its Movie)
Cheese! - The first-ever image of a black hole ( and its movie) They cannot be seen, yet they are not hiding. Nothing can escape to them, yet they are not chasing anything: they are just so...attractive. At first, Einstein didn't believe they could exist in physical reality, but today we know he was wrong. Because they exist. We know it for sure: in 2020, professor Roger Penrose shared the Nobel Prize for his famous discovery that their formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity. I didn't even mention them, but you all know what I am talking about. Some scientists spent their lives studying these objects: Stephen Hawking was just one of the many. Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts and follow me on this journey because today I am going to tell you the story of how we took a picture of a Black Hole(M87). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In 2019 the world saw, for the first time ever, the image of a black hole. It was made a huge effort to bring this result home, and plenty of scientists from all over the world were involved in the project. I will tell you the story that lies behind this event, I will introduce some scientists to you that made this possible, and I am going to explain to you how we did it, how much important it was for science, and why. But...let's start with some information about black holes: despite their name, black holes are anything but empty space. Rather, they are some great, giant amount of matter packed into a very small area - think of a star ten times more massive than the Sun squeezed into a sphere approximately the diameter of New York City. The idea of an object in space so massive and dense that not even light itself could escape, it has been around for centuries. Most famously, black holes were predicted by Einstein's theory of general relativity, which showed that when a massive star dies, it leaves behind a small, dense remnant core. If the core's mass is more than about three times the mass of the Sun, the equations showed, the force of gravity overwhelms all other forces and produces a black hole. We can say that one Star's End is a Black Hole's Beginning. But...black holes...are black! Do you have any idea how should we make to observe them? Scientists can't directly observe black holes with telescopes that detect x-rays, light, or other forms of electromagnetic radiation, because they trap electromagnetic radiation. The answer is: we use indirect methods. We can infer the presence of black holes and study them by detecting their effect on other matter nearby. For example, if a star passes close to a black hole, the black hole can tear the star apart as it pulls it toward itself. As the attracted matter accelerates and heats up, it emits x-rays that radiate into space. Recent discoveries offer some tantalizing evidence that black holes have a dramatic influence on the neighborhoods around them - emitting powerful gamma ray bursts,a extraordinarily energetic radiation. This type of radiation occurs, for example, when mass is converted into energy during fission reactions that run nuclear reactors on Earth. But in the case of black holes, gamma radiation is even more energetic than that produced in nuclear reactors and is the product of very different processes. This powerful emission devours nearby stars, and spurs the growth of new stars in some areas while stalling it in others. Although the basic formation process is understood, one mystery in the science of black holes was that they appeared to exist on two radically different size scales. On the one end, there are the black holes that are the remnants of massive stars (we will refer to them as “Babies”). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If You happen to see any content that is yours, and we didn't give credit in the right manner please let us know at: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com and we will correct it immediately" "Some of our visual content is under a Attribution-ShareAlike license. SpaceX Vs Nasa: What's The Difference?
We just want to highlight the operational differences between SpaceX and NASA. NASA has achieved truly incredible things, but will the organisation have to move over for Elon Musk’s amazing spacecraft technologies? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But before talking more about this comparison let us answer an even important question that many people raise during such conversations. Is comparing NASA and SpaceX fair? Well it’s not quite that simple. One is a government agency that’s been there for decades and the other is a young private company hungry for more. So sometimes it may seem that’s its unfair to compare these two. But in general we can compare their cost efficiency and their rockets. NASA, or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was created in 1958 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act. According to the act, NASA’s space exploration would forever be “devoted to peaceful purposes for the benefit of all mankind.” But despite of the peaceful conception, it was formed primarily as a response to the Soviet Union who had already put something into the orbit before the USA. And in a few decades NASA went on from a little aerospace entity to a full fledged advance organisation capable of putting humans on the surface of moon. NASA had a strong competitor, the Soviets which not only fuelled their growth but also the mindset of people. But since the cold war ended, things changed. NASA didn’t had the same enthusiast as before which is evident of the fact that since the 1972, there hasn’t been a man to moon. But in the last few years a new golden era begun in space industry because of the revived interest of people in space. And one of the main reason behind that is SpaceX. SpaceX, created by multitalented tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, was founded on May 6, 2002. Musk is eventually planning on colonising mars which he has made it clear several times. Musk has also said that by 2024, SpaceX will have completed a manned mission to Mars. And in the summer 2020, SpaceX became the first private company to send astronauts into space. The United States has not launched its own astronauts into space since the Space Shuttle Program ended in 2011. Since then, Nasa has had to pay Russia for its Soyuz rockets to take American astronauts to space. It paid more than $3 billion for SpaceX to design, build, test and operate its reusable capsule for six future space round trips. So, why NASA hasn’t used its own spacecrafts? Well lets start the comparison between SpaceX and NASA and see what is wrong with NASA’s plan! The question we must first ask is who has the most funding and the more advanced technology. Elon musk himself is the third richest man as of October 2020, and is worth over 100 billion dollars. SpaceX has raised over $1.9 billion in new funding in August, representing its largest single fundraising round to date. SpaceX makes most of its money from delivering payloads for NASA and launching commercial satellites into space. NASA on the other hand has suffered from underfunding over the years which is one of the reasons why progress regarding the exploration of space has been ponderous since the moon landing. In 2016, President Barack Obama increased the budget of around half a billion dollar bringing the total budget to 19 billion dollars. In 2020, the trump administration called for an increase of 3 billion dollars in NASA’s budget for the lunar landing on 2024 but it was denied by the House Appropriations Committee. Hope you like it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Discovery and Naming When it comes to the moons and the planets in space, their discovery is a key part of their history. So who was the one who discovered Enceladus? That would be William Herschel in 1789. But just as impressively, it was during the first use of his new telescope that he got it done. In fact, at the time, the telescope he used was the biggest in the world. The problem though was that due to the position of the moon and how it was basically "shined over" by the brightness of Saturn and its rings...Enceladus was difficult to observe from Earth with smaller telescopes. However, Herschel was in luck, as he found it during a Saturnian equinox, the first moon to be discovered that way. The equinox in question removed some of the "glare" from the moon so that it could indeed be spotted. Prior to the Voyager missions the view of Enceladus improved little from the dot first observed by Herschel. We knew general information about the moon, but not much about the nitty-gritty of what made it tick. Thankfully we were able to get more information later on obviously. As for its title, the moon is named after the giant known as Enceladus from Greek mythology. But unlike certain other moons, the naming did not stop there, not one bit. Because unlike other structures, scientists and researchers decided to name various aspects of the moon. Impact craters for example were named after characters, whereas other feature types, such as fossae (long, narrow depressions), dorsa (ridges), planitiae (plains), sulci (long parallel grooves), and rupes (cliffs) were titled after places. When all was said and done, 85 features on Enceladus had names. That's a lot of things to label. So as you can see they got a little name happy for this moon, but that just led them to detailing it even more so it may have just worked out that way for them. 7. Shooting Into Space In 2005 something rather special was found out about Enceladus. Specifically, NASA’s Cassini spacecraft discovered that icy water particles and gas gush from the moon’s surface at approximately 800 miles per hour. Not something you'd expect from a moon. From a planet? Yes. But a moon? Not so much. But it wasn't just that it was shooting into space, it was doing so at quite a rate to where it was actually reaching the outer layers of the moon, so much so that it supplies material to Saturn's E-ring. Only a small fraction of the material ends up in the ring, however, with most of it falling like snow back to the moon’s surface, and that is a big reason why the moon is such a bright color of white. A curious thing indeed, "filling" up a ring with some of the plume, and making the moon bright white with the other. Again, not something you'd expect from a moon. The water jets come from relatively warm fractures in the crust. Several gases, including water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, perhaps a little ammonia and either carbon monoxide or nitrogen gas make up the gaseous envelope of the plume, along with salts and silica. Just as curious to those studying it, the gasses are much denser than they first guessed. Adding more mystery to everything involved. If you're curious how these plumes really form, that's because there is an ocean in Enceladus that supplies the jets. Which is important to note because now scientist are trying to study the E ring of Saturn in order to study the waters of the moon. Within the ice droplets that make it to the E ring are peculiar nanograins of silica, which can only be generated where liquid water and rock interact at temperatures above about 200 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius). What does that all mean? It means that hydrothermal vents might be underneath the moons surface. ------------------------------------------------------------------- "If You happen to see any content that is yours, and we didn't give credit in the right manner please let us know at: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com and we will correct it immediately" "Some of our visual content is under a Attribution-ShareAlike license. Rizal barking at a cat outside
Our Chihuahua, Rizal (a.k.a Pepe), is not too fond of the cats and other dogs he sees outside the door and expresses his contempt for them with angry barking and growling. Also, please ignore the talking in the background. It's from a tutorial my father is watching on the computer.

Our Galaxy Is Probably Colliding With The Andromeda Galaxy!
We already know that there are many galaxies in our Universe and one thing is for sure that the deeper we look into the cosmos, the more galaxies we see. Join me as I explain the collision that is going to happen between the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for more videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/InsaneCuriosity?sub_confirmation=1? Business Enquiries: Lorenzovareseaziendale@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Galaxies are sprawling systems of dust, gas, dark matter, and anywhere from a million to a trillion stars that are held together by gravity. It has been estimated that the observable universe contains almost two trillion galaxies. Imagine how infinite our Universe is! Some of those distant galaxies are similar to our own Milky Way, while others are quite different. From all these Galaxies we have discovered through years of research that Andromeda Galaxy is coming closer to our own. It is important to mention some information about The Andromeda Galaxy that makes it so important. First and foremost, The Andromeda Galaxy is the closest large galaxy to our Milky Way. At 2.5 million light-years, it’s the most distant thing visible we can see with the naked eye in the Northern Hemisphere especially on the dark sky. It is the brightest galaxy we can see and it is also named as M31. Although there are several dozen minor galaxies closer to our Milky Way, the Andromeda galaxy is the closest large spiral galaxy to ours. A spiral galaxy has a flat, spinning disk with a central bulge surrounded by spiral arms. That spinning motion, at speeds of hundreds of kilometers a second, may cause matter in the disk to take on a distinctive spiral shape, like a cosmic pinwheel. There has been a speculation by a team of astronomers who believe that M31 or Andromeda Galaxy was formed between five and nine billion years ago when two smaller galaxies collided and merged creating this one. The Andromeda galaxy and our Milky Way galaxy reign as the two most massive and dominant galaxies within the Local Group of Galaxies. Local group is a collection of more than 54 galaxies including the Milky Way, the Triangulum galaxy and many smaller dwarf galaxies. If it wasn’t for the Andromeda Galaxy we wouldn’t be able to extent our knowledge about the outer space. In other words the Andromeda Galaxy has contributed to the knowledge we have gained about the Universe, as it was the first clue that there existed a universe outside the Milky Way. So we should be grateful for its existence. Both the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy claim to have about a dozen satellite galaxies. Both are some 100,000 light-years across, containing enough mass to make billions of stars. Andromeda has also a diameter of 200,000 of light years which is twice the diameter of our galaxy. The mass of either galaxy is difficult to estimate with any accuracy, but it is considered that the Andromeda Galaxy is more massive than the Milky Way by a margin of some 25% to 50%. In recent years, scientists have done detailed studies of black holes, stars and other objects within the galaxy. This included a stunning mosaic of Andromeda galaxy images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2015. Andromeda contains a concentrated bulge of matter in the middle, surrounded by a disk of gas, dust, and stars and an immense halo. I think we get to know Andromeda galaxy better, but what if I told you that Andromeda draws our attention also for another reason. Yes that is what we are going to analyze in the following lines. So join me to this journey. Studies have shown that the Andromeda Galaxy has probably started collision with our galaxy. And it is not a speculation but years and years of research with the necessary tools to discover it.
